This Privacy Policy explains how Mahogany (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit the Mahogany website at getmahogany.com (the “Site”). It also explains what we do and do not receive when you use the Mahogany software (the “Product”).
In short: we collect very little, we never sell your information, and the product does not send your client files to us.
1Information we collect
Information you give us. If you email us or contact support, we receive your name, email address, and anything you include in your message.
Purchase information. Purchases are completed on Payhip, our checkout and delivery platform. Payhip shares with us the details we need to deliver and support your license, such as your name, email address, the license you purchased, the order date, and the amount paid. We do not receive or store your full payment card or PayPal account details.
Information collected automatically. The Site is hosted by Netlify. Like most web hosts, Netlify automatically records standard technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, referring URL, and the date and time of your visit. This information is used to deliver the Site, keep it secure, and diagnose problems. We use Netlify’s analytics to view aggregate traffic, such as page views and visitor counts. It works from server data and does not place cookies in or track personally identifying information from your browser.
Demo video. Our sales page plays a product demo video hosted by Wistia. When the video loads or you play it, Wistia may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, and how you interact with the video, such as when you play, pause, or stop it. We use this information only in aggregate, to understand how the video performs.
2Cookies
We do not use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites. Our hosting provider, Netlify, may use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies to deliver the Site securely and reliably.
Our video host, Wistia, may use cookies or similar technologies to play the demo video, remember your playback settings, and measure viewing. These cookies are governed by Wistia’s privacy policy, available at wistia.com.
When you click a purchase button, you leave the Site. Payhip and PayPal may set their own cookies, which are governed by their own policies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some checkout features may not work without them.
3Payments
All purchases are processed by third parties:
- Payhip hosts the product purchase page, handles checkout, and delivers your download.
- PayPal processes payments made through Payhip.
These providers collect and handle your payment information under their own terms and privacy policies, available on their websites (payhip.com and paypal.com). We are not responsible for their practices.
4The Mahogany Product and your client files
Mahogany is downloaded and runs on your own computer. We do not receive, view, or store the documents, client information, prompts, or outputs you work with in Mahogany.
If you choose to use Mahogany with a cloud-based AI service, the information you enter is sent to that provider, not to us, and is governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy. You are responsible for choosing a provider whose data practices satisfy your professional confidentiality obligations.
5How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- deliver your purchase, manage your license, and provide updates and update renewals;
- respond to support requests and other inquiries;
- send you important notices about your purchase, license, or update period;
- send product news; you may unsubscribe at any time;
- operate, secure, and improve the Site; and
- prevent fraud, enforce our terms, and comply with the law.
7How long we keep information
We keep purchase records for as long as needed to support your license and to meet tax, accounting, and legal requirements. We keep support correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to help you. Server logs and video viewing data are retained by Netlify and Wistia according to their own retention periods.
8Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California, other U.S. states, the European Economic Area, and the United Kingdom, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete your information, subject to legal exceptions;
- object to or restrict certain processing; and
- withdraw consent where we rely on it.
To make a request, email support@getmahogany.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
If you are in the EEA or UK, we process your information to perform our contract with you (your purchase), for our legitimate interests (operating, securing, and supporting the Site and Product), to comply with legal obligations, and with your consent where required. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10Children
The Site is intended for legal professionals and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11International users
We are based in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our service providers operate.
12Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the effective date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice, such as by email to customers.
